YOUR INFORMATION, YOUR CHOICE
Delete your Longhand Math account.
You can request deletion here without signing in or reinstalling the app.
Start with an email
From the email address you use for Longhand Math, send a request to support@longhandmath.com with the subject Delete my Longhand Math account.
We will verify that you control the account, confirm which learner records you own, and explain the scope before permanently removing them. Requests are handled by the operator; clicking this link does not delete anything automatically. If you no longer have access to your account email, contact the same address so we can discuss verification.
Please do not send a password, payment details, or student photos. You do not need to explain why you are leaving.
What account deletion removes
- Your adult login, password hash, sessions, device notification registrations, invitations, and account access.
- Learners in households where you are the only remaining owner, including their profiles, worksheets, answer keys, learning readings, progress, and saved work images.
- Your email from the Longhand Math interest list.
Learners owned by someone else are not deleted when you leave a shared household or stop being a helper. Your access is removed, and your account identity is removed from surviving internal records where possible. A household with another owner keeps its learner records. We will confirm this with you before processing the request. If other people rely on access you granted, we may need the remaining owner to confirm those arrangements before completing deletion.
What can remain
Deletion audit records keep random references, times, and counts rather than student work. Fly.io backups are configured to expire after one day, so backup blocks may remain briefly after active records are removed. Operational security logs follow their own retention rules. See the privacy policy for the AI, photo, and app-service details.
Copies kept by AI services. Account deletion removes the records and files Longhand holds for the learners deleted with the account, apart from what is listed above. If Longhand sent a learner’s pages to an AI service to be read, that service may still keep a copy under its own policy. Longhand cannot shorten how long any such copies are kept or delete them. Each learner’s data page on the website names the services that read that learner’s pages.
- Anthropic: Anthropic deletes the pages it reads, and its replies, within 30 days. Pages its automated safety systems flag can be kept for up to 2 years and their safety scores for up to 7 years, and the law can require longer.
- OpenAI: OpenAI may keep the pages it reads in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, and legal requirements, caching, image safety review and project settings can still apply.

Printed worksheets, PDFs or photos saved or shared outside Longhand Math, and messages in your own email account remain outside our control. Tell us if you also want your support correspondence removed from our mailbox.
Just removing a learner or a photo?
You can keep your adult account. On the website, open the learner’s Settings and data page to start learner deletion, with a three-day cancellation window or an immediate-delete option. Photo retention controls let a household adult remove saved work images without removing learning progress.
In the app, open More → Privacy & your data → Request account deletion to return to this page.
